As a taxpayer in columbia borough, I have a few questions about the "trust"...how were these people selected or appointed? Obviously they were not elected. Are they paid and if so by whom? Or are they volunteers? What are their qualifications? Why wouldn't the trust simply meet with carmen privately or with borough council to inform her of their decision and tell her why. Now they set the borough up for possible legal action. Who pays for the court costs and potential settlement...please don't say the taxpayers!

Some of that information can be found here:

Cole, last nights meeting was intense to say the least. I hope that the council sees that a legal obligation is very clear. I am amazed to see such a woman as Carmen to stand up to all. She has proved that she is the right fit. She has endured so much in the last year and still continues to stand up for the right thing. Council needed to listen a long time ago. Carmen even thanked Mr Murphy on many levels because she admired him in the beginning and learned a lot from him in the 2 years he worked on getting the trust formed. I as many are confused as to why Mr Murphy would wrap himself up in the trust. There has been a pattern with one member on trust and I would of thought Mr Murphy could see that. Perhaps, he has now seen how the one member on trust is ruining everything. I think we needed to have someone fight back on the evil doings of this town and Carmen fought back. She had nothing to loose. I hope that going forward, this town changes. Lets stand up and end this towns drama. Lets stay positive. Lets focus on positive. Lets not take any more crap. Let snot loose good people. Lets not down the wrong ones. Lets move on or move out!

Agreed. See my editorial "Can We Trust the Trust?" above.

Carmen seemed so passionate about wanting her job back, why did she turn down meeting with the very people responsible for firing her? Was it declined on legal advice? A dramatic change of heart and a bit confusing.

Good questions. Unfortunately, I don't have the answers.

I initially turned it down because I had simply enough. It has been a long journey in the boro and two days before hat meeting I had been in a car accident. SO, I simply just needed a straight forward answer and it appeared I was not getting one. With that said, I did meet last thursday with council and ended with the same results. I am at a lost for words.

Sorry you got the runaround. Maybe you can pursue the issue further by exploring other options.

Cole,
Thanks. Also, another reminder that on Monday at 6 is the council meeting of the "whole", it will or will not produce results. Only time will tell.
