Where does the sky go
Out in the endless rain?
Even the geese are confused,
Seeking solace amid the air.
It's leap day and the geese are confused. They're heading north, chasing the sky, oblivious to the rain. Flocks of them, quarter-mile vees. Maybe they're going to Middle Creek to sort it all out, but they're too late for winter and too early for spring.
Above a farmer's field, swarms of stragglers swirl in ordered chaos, searching for resolution. Instinct will eventually drive them to their destination, but as the rain intensifies, they're forced to descend and huddle.
