The Hounds of Winter

Even more snow is predicted for tomorrow, and we're not out of the woods yet. It's still only January. Last year, we had our worst snows at the beginning of February, so there's still time for a stray blizzard or two. Winter has already overstayed its visit and it's just getting started. I'm trying not to be too depressed about it, but I keep hearing a line from an old Cream song in my head:

You thought the leaden winter would bring you down forever . . .

As well as this one from Sting:

The hounds of winter/They follow me down.

There It Goes Again!

Am I the only one who's been noticing that helicopter flying around town every Tuesday (and sometimes Wednesday) afternoon since last summer? I just saw it again tonight. I wonder if someone's taking flying lessons. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but since 911, any strange air traffic makes me suspicious. On the one hand, I feel like Ray Liotta in Goodfellas, but on the other hand, we are located between two nuke plants. You don't suppose . . . ? NAH!
