What I Saw (March 30, 2011)

Sad aftermath of the Plane Street fire . . .

Traffic Accident at Columbia Plaza

Emergency crews responded to a traffic accident at the Columbia Plaza,
which occurred at about 3:30 this afternoon.

 Apparently, this silver Honda . . .

 and this white Trek collided.

The bike rider had been wearing a helmet.

Police officers referred to their notes.
 Paramedics aided the victim.

An officer marked the position of the bike.

 Ambulances arrived.
The victim was fully secured . . .

and then taken to a waiting ambulance.

More Pics from the Plane Street Fire

Firefighters responded to a fire at three row homes on Plane Street at about 7 Monday night.
More info here.
I have great respect for our firefighters,
especially after witnessing what they went
through when battling this blaze.
It was very hard, hot, dirty, dangerous work.
They carried out their mission in an
extremely organized and methodical way.
They deserve our support.

Two Columbia Men Arrested in DUI Warrant Sweep

Two Columbia men, as well as several other people, were arrested in a DUI warrant sweep conducted this morning by the County Sheriff's Department in Operation Last Call.
More here.

What Else I Saw (March 26, 2011)

At about 3:30 p.m., Columbia Borough Police
descended on 224 North 3rd Street
in search of a fugitive . . .

A tenant was questioned, but in the end
no arrests were made.

Iron Man's mask on back porch of Mikey's Warehouse.
(That means Tony Stark was around there somewhere.)

 Tiger in his tank.
(Yes, I get it, already.)

 A misty, bucolic wilderness trail . . .

No, wait - it's smoke from a pile of burning debris,
at or next to the Canoe Club, apparently . . .
UNATTENDED?!
Fer crap's sake, didn't we already have one fire
today?  And what's that ordinance about open
fires within borough limits?
