Graffiti at River Park

Shallow people publicly declaring their possessive love through spray paint.  What a romantic gesture!

Nice While It Lasted

The rabble couldn't resist marring all that blank space.  My advice to them is, Learn to paint, or else save the amateur doodles for the margins of your junior high notebooks.  Actually, there's a name for this style of talentless expression:  Middle School Modernism.

What I Saw Today (September 4, 2010)

A new music store -
Morning Dove - on the
400 block of Locust Street

3 towers

A new proprietor at
4th and Locust but . . .

. . . the same old decay

Open door policy -
200 block of Locust

Some pics:

The bridge, speaking of which . . .

. . . upcoming

Broken door storage

Dunging out.  I wonder if
there's any radioactive waste.

Why?

Barricades

These signs need to come down now.
They're still plastered all over
River Park.

Spinning wheel inside shop window.
This is an easy way to get a double exposure.

Why are the flags at half staff?
(Bus stop on Locust Street)

What's left of an everglades
air boat.  It got the whole way
here before it conked out.

I saw six cop cars in the parking lot
outside the Family Restaurant at
the Columbia Plaza.  If they're having breakfast, who's watching the town?
(Besides me, I mean.)
To be fair, the police did leave before 8 a.m., which, I presume, is the beginning
of their shift.  (I hope.)

What I Saw Today (August 8, 2010)

(Click on each pic.)

I thought this balloon was descending
a few blocks beyond this house.

But I found it hovering over the river.
That's it for the balloon pictures,
at least for this one,
unless it lands in my backyard.
I see this thing everywhere.

White cat (3rd & Poplar)

This might be it for the bird pics, too,
unless I can get a close-up of that hawk
I see now and again.  Anyway,
these are mourning doves I saw
near the CHS stadium.

Pole dance

Protest against corporate personhood.
The guy facing the camera told me
the group was planning a 20-mile walk,
a leg at a time.  (No pun intended.)

Incident on the 400 block of
Union Street (about 4:20 p.m.)

Incident over - I have no idea
what it was about, but there were
four police cars at the scene.
The cops didn't seem too upset.

The following four photos are of
the baptism that took place at
River Park this afternoon . . .

Someone didn't get the message.
The ramp was CLOSED, but
this kayaker came ashore there
anyway.

Next . . .

About to take the plunge

Contemplating

Assembly.
I guess I had another bird picture after all.

Tracks

Lightning rod atop a house
across from Rotary Park.

See?  I told you.

Brazen beer bottle breaking -
Right outside police headquarters

He must be pretty tall.
